Best things to watch out for with prom shoes
For most young women, the prom is the ultimate night
that punctuates their high school career. It is expected to be
one enchanted evening, right down to the flowers, the date, the
limo, and of course, the shoes. The dress is usually the big deal
- almost as important as a lady's wedding dress - but the prom
shoes complete the outfit, bringing it all together to make a
girl ready for the big night.
Prom shoes should be elegant and snappy, but comfortable too
as you will be dancing a lot and walking from car to car, from
ballroom to photo area. Like women's shoes in general, prom shoes
come in a number of styles and varieties, such as dyeables. Also,
these shoes come in all colors, since the prom tends to be a time
to shine and show yourself off in the brightest and sometimes,
the craziest colors.
Most prom shoes have a basic toe strap and heel strap and a
slight heel. They do come with higher heels but again, you want
to be able to dance the night away without falling all over your
date. Designs are usually simple but they do make some with cloth
flowers on the toe and/or butterflies. Also, the prom shoe can
have a closed toe and heel strap, with the toe more rounded for
comfort or pointed like a basic pump. With these, you are afforded
a bit more design; rhinestones or a flowery design on the toe
of the shoe.
Depending on your budget, prom shoes can run you anywhere from
thirty-five dollars (from sites like Zappos.com or stores like
Beall's) all the way up to one hundred dollars (websites and stores
from Steve Madden). Since dresses run you in the range of seventy
five and upwards, it would be good to go with shoes that are either
inexpensive or, if you plan on wearing them more than one night
in your life, shoes that cost a bit more but have the quality
and functionality you desire. The shoe for prom isn't in a class
of its own but should exemplify your style, match your dress,
and make you feel comfortable and beautiful for the biggest night
of high school.
